What does it mean when a pendant is handmade?

Handmade means: Every pendant goes through my hands. It is created by casting and then finished and refined by me by hand. That is why every piece looks a little different.

Which necklace suits my pendant?

That depends on how much your pendant weighs and how you want it to look. A solid pendant needs a strong, sturdy necklace that can withstand the weight and match it visually – a thin necklace would almost disappear beneath it. With more delicate pieces, a slimmer necklace is also fine, allowing the pendant to speak for itself instead of overpowering it.

Sterling silver consists of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals, mostly copper. This combination makes it durable, skin-friendly, and therefore ideal for jewelry.

Can sterling silver tarnish?

Yes, it can. Due to sulfur compounds in the air, silver tarnishes and turns dark; it oxidizes. In many cases, this is even desired, as I also make artificially oxidized pendants.

Can I prevent tarnishing? How do I care for silver jewelry?

Clean your jewelry regularly with a silver polishing cloth to prevent tarnishing. There are also other methods to make silver shine again; see my article Cleaning Jewelry for more information. In addition, you can store the jewelry in an airtight bag when you are not wearing it.
