Jewelry cleaning
Is your jewelry dirty or tarnished? No problem, I'll explain possible ways to clean it again, with a few tips and tricks.
Why does jewelry turn dark?
Jewelry tarnishes over time and turns dark. This is a natural oxidation process in which precious metals react when they come into contact with hydrogen sulfide in the air. This creates sulfides. But it's absolutely not a problem because it can be removed. Or, as with many of my pieces of jewelry, it's desired and I deliver them already oxidized.
So what’s the best way to clean jewelry?
If your jewelry is simply dirty, you can clean it with dish soap and a brush that is not too hard, or put it in an ultrasonic bath. This will remove the dirt perfectly.
There are the following methods to make tarnished jewelry shiny again:
Cleaning and polishing with brass brush
The bristle thickness is adjusted to a polishing
Cleaning without scratching the jewelry.
How to best use the brush:
Rub the piece of jewellery with a little washing-up liquid. Brush firmly with the brush.
Rinse thoroughly with warm water.
Rub dry & polish with a clean towel
Attention: Oxidized and matte jewelry will be polished to a high shine with this product. If you don't want that, you should choose another cleaning method.
Cleaning silver jewelry
With the help of a great chemical process, silver jewelry can also be cleaned very well. Take a bowl and line it with aluminum foil. Add 2 teaspoons of commercially available salt and fill it with hot water. As soon as you put the silver jewelry in, you can observe the reaction. Over time, you can control how shiny the jewelry should become. Sometimes you have to repeat the process again with fresh foil, salt and water.
Attention: Not suitable for jewelry that is not made of silver.
