GPSR – General Product Safety Regulation

Product Safety Regulation – Information for our customers

The safety, quality, and durability of our jewelry are our top priorities.

Product Safety

For manufacturing, we exclusively use materials that comply with legal requirements and are suitable for their intended use.

Hazard Warnings

As part of our individual risk analysis, we have determined that our jewelry, which consists exclusively of precious metals, gemstones, or pearls, is not expected to pose any health risks to the human body.

The precious metals we use are free of nickel and other known allergenic substances. Should an allergic reaction nevertheless occur, we recommend removing the jewelry immediately and not wearing it further. Upon request, we would be happy to inform you about the exact composition of the respective alloys.

Jewelry should always be kept out of reach of children and animals. Especially small components can be swallowed. Necklaces also pose a potential strangulation risk.

Jewelry should generally be removed before sports activities or physically demanding work, as otherwise there is an increased risk of injury.

We also recommend removing jewelry before going to the sauna. Silver, in particular, can heat up significantly and cause burns. Furthermore, pearls and certain gemstones can be damaged by high temperatures.

For knives of any kind: CAUTION! They are truly sharp. Correct handling of knives is mandatory. Be careful not to cut yourself. Under no circumstances let your children near the knives.

For clothing, the instructions attached to the clothing apply.

Storage and Care Instructions

To prevent scratches or other damage, jewelry should be stored separately. Storage in a suitable jewelry box in a dry place protected from direct sunlight is ideal.

Jewelry with gemstones requires special care. Impacts, blows, or dropping onto hard surfaces can cause gemstones to break or the jewelry to be damaged. This applies particularly to signet rings. Engraved gemstones are generally more delicate than unengraved stones.

Every gemstone – including diamonds – can be damaged or broken by strong force.

Rings hitting each other, for example when clapping with both hands, can also cause significant damage to rings and gemstones.

Delicate necklaces and bracelets can break if they get caught or if a pendant that is too heavy is worn on a chain that is too delicate.

Jewelry with gemstones should be checked regularly. Especially with claw settings, it is important to ensure that the gemstones are still securely seated in their settings.

A loose stone is often noticeable by movement or an audible rattling when lightly tapped. In this case, the gemstone should be reset promptly to avoid loss or damage.

Cosmetic products, chemical substances, and strong heat exposure, such as from blow-drying hair, should ideally not come into contact with jewelry.

When swimming, especially in cold water, the risk of losing rings increases because fingers can change due to the cold.

Sand, for example on the beach, in playgrounds, or during gardening, can permanently damage both precious metals and certain gemstones and pearls. Direct contact should therefore be avoided.

Claw settings are generally considered more delicate than bezel settings.

Cleaning

Regular cleaning significantly contributes to maintaining the beauty of your jewelry.

Deposits such as skin cream, dust, or sweat can make gemstones appear dull and diminish the luster of precious metals. Careful cleaning restores the jewelry's original radiance.

We recommend cleaning with lukewarm water, mild soap, and a soft toothbrush or a suitable jewelry cleaning bath. Afterward, the jewelry can be carefully polished to a high shine with a polishing cloth. Please always observe the instructions for use of the respective cleaning products, as different products are intended for silver and gold.

Tarnished silver jewelry can often be restored with a suitable polishing cloth.

We strongly advise against the use of denture cleaners. Ultrasonic devices should also only be used if extensive knowledge of the respective materials is available.

Jewelry with delicate gemstones such as emerald, turquoise, opal, or coral, as well as jewelry with pearls, should only be professionally cleaned by a goldsmith or jeweler. Improper cleaning methods can permanently damage these materials.

Natural Signs of Wear

Normal signs of wear that arise from regular and proper wearing cannot be completely avoided and do not constitute a defect.

The more carefully a piece of jewelry is handled, the longer its beauty will be preserved.

Should your piece of jewelry show significant signs of wear after many years of wearing, we would be happy to offer you professional refurbishment.
